During two weeks I was at the Lake of Como in Northern Italy. Most tourists come to the lake to visit the city Como and the wonderful Villa Carlotta and Villa Melzi. Tourists like to see each other on beautiful and perfectly groomed places. Yes I have seen villa Carlotta too, but I also made lots of walks in the mountains with different views from different angles on the water of the lake. In the mountains you see almost no one, you are alone with nature in it’s purest form. The nature around the Como Lake forms an extraordinary and grotesque landscape with ruins of old houses on every level in the mountains. During my walks I thought often how people in history reached the height level of their houses and why these houses are taking over by nature now. There must be a great history behind these lost houses of single stone in the middle of nowhere.
